What Are Activity Cards?

Activity Cards are a nonverbal communication, creative dramatics activity which involve students in a variety of skill developing exercises. Students view them as a game. Activity Cards use a charades-like platform to help develop teamwork, vocabulary, grammar, critical thinking, creative thought, observational skills, and expressiveness. There are no competitive teams and everyone gets a turn to pantomime with a common group goal. Activity Cards are a ready-made, hands-on, fun, educational tool that is a winner with both kids and teachers. This unique and teacher-friendly program has, for many classes, become the "Activity of the Year".

Why Use Activity Cards?

Creative dramatics with students can be very rewarding. With today’s emphasis on testing, it is a lost art. Acting provides fun and special moments. For a class, it can be a tremendous bonding experience.

Activity Cards are an excellent Educational Tool. A non-verbal communication activity for a whole class. They can be adapted many ways. They utilize Reading, Communicating, Problem Solving and Working Together Skills. They are a great enrichment tool for supporting many different subject areas. They are easy to use and students enjoy making them.

Each packet follows an educational theme. The reading and vocabulary levels of these Activity Cards are at the intermediate fourth grade level. Each activity has certain vocabulary and actions highlighted in each sentence. The bold type lends itself to vocabulary, concepts sentence analysis and parts of speech.

Because students are so involved in "playing" their activities, the information included in each activity can be remembered better. The students learn it on a different level. At the end of each game students guess or read their activities aloud. There is a tremendous focus as students listen attentively to each of twenty-five facts or actions. It increases the chance these facts stay in the brain.  

This can be hard to pull off successfully with a large group. Acting for many is not easy. Activity Cards take the stress and pressure away. It's that easy.
